Make a weekly schedule; one for personal tasks and one for school.
-
Break down the weekly list into a daily to do list. Doing so makes a larger list not so daunting and also provides a clearer picture of what tasks should take priority.
-
Prioritize each assignment. Assignments that are due first should be prioritized over ones which are due at a later date. If there is more than one assignment due on the same day, prioritize the one that will need more time to complete.
-
Write down due dates. Also set your own due dates. This ensures your assignment will be completed early leaving enough time for last minute touch ups.
-
Break larger tasks into smaller chunks. This makes larger assignments more manageable.
-
Time block & include frequent breaks. Be realistic about the amount of time an assignment will take to complete.
-
Keep work area neat and tidy. Desk or table surfaces should be free of any clutter.
-
Remove distractions & avoid procrastination. Work in a quiet room or area, preferably where there are no distractions such as the TV.
-
Frequently review your daily and weekly to do list. Move due dates ahead if necessary.
-
Reward yourself along the way. For every 1-2 hours of consistent work give yourself a reward. Some examples of rewards are: 15 minutes on social media, a tasty treat, a walk, or phone a friend.
-
Get lots of sleep! Brains need to time to recharge. Having a cut-off time will help with avoiding all-nighters.
